Whatever helps to tell the story Animate can be adapted to tell it accurately and interestingly. Click this button and the audio will play in a loop. Click for this sound, this 911 call, this jail call. Animate does that too.ДЄudio can be made into a sound board. Sometimes you would like a single image to play annotations as though it was a video. Sometimes it would be nice to drop in a different video off to the side, then disappear. Sometimes it would be nice to zoom in on a video. Sometimes you may just want to click a button to slow play, then click a button to resume regular speed. Sometimes you may want it to play at 15 FPS then drop to 1 FPS for a bit, then go back. Sometimes it would be nice if it just paused on a frame then started back up with no prompting. Sometimes you want to click a single button to go to a specific frameвЂ¦or stop regular play on a specific frame so you can talk about it. Sometimes you want to play it back at a very specific frame rate.

Animate does that, with multiple skin choices. Sometimes playing back the frames in a standard video player is good enough.

Digital video is a series of images that are referred to as frames. Surveillance alone can come in thousands of sizes, frame rates, aspect ratios, compression, quality, and so on. Surveillance video, squad video, body worn camera video, undercover video, interview room video, cell phone video, internet video, VHS video, animated video and the list goes on. Most trial presentation softwares do not allow you to maximize the path to the best way to show a particular video. The jury loves it because itвЂ™s not another death by Powerpoint.Д«ecause of the types of video that are prominent in the criminal justice world there cannot really be a one size fits all approach to demonstrative video exhibits.

And the judge loves it because court moves right along because the prosecutor is organized. And the buttons can be placed to where they make sense.

The upside is that it can do whatever is needed to tell the story without crashing. Unfortunately, the end user typically doesnвЂ™t create this or even edit because the one downside is that the creation of Adobe Animate trial exhibits tends to be a bit complicated.

And it would play on virtually any PC with no further software or license necessary. Navigating between things was single click. Video could be annotated with text or arrows or anything. Flash became my goto software because video played without crashing. Or you couldnвЂ™t get it to play on more than one monitor at a time. Video had to be formatted to very specific formats and it was cumbersome. In 2006 when I first started using Flash, PPT was very limited. Even video and audio can reliably play some of the time. It can be edited on the fly and just about every location anywhere has PPT installed so you can just bring a thumb drive with your dot PPT. If I only need some text and some pictures, PPT couldnвЂ™t possibly be easier. Some people may even say that Powerpoint is the only software anyone needs for anything. Some people may argue that it does everything. Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. I have been using Flash or Animate for creating trial exhibits for over 12 years.
